Favorite Video Friday – The 80s

This Week: A decade that will not die, no matter how much you try to kill it.

The Asteroids Galaxy Tour – Around the Bend

This tune will sound familiar to anyone that’s watched American television or visited Apple’s website in the past month.

Sonny J – Can’t Stop Moving

Electric Company anyone? Ok, so technically that show started in the 70s, but I watched it in the 80s, so back off!

Miami Horror – Don’t Be On With Her

If I had to pick one video to describe the 80s, this would be it.

This Week in Movies – 10/10/08

Not much in the way of movies this week. I suggest watching Dexter on Netflix’s Watch it Now.

In Theaters:

  • Quantum of Solace – This is either the latest Bond flick or a new album by your favorite group of angsty teenagers.

On Video:

  • Hellboy II: The Golden Army – Ron Perlman paints himself red and saws off his horns for another movie. It’s in my queue, but I’m an incredible geek.
  • Star Wars: The Clone Wars – George Lucas continues to milk his cash cow. Or is he beating it? I can’t really tell anymore.
  • Beer for my Horses – Watching this movie has been proven to cause birth defects, the dead to rise from their graves, and the Apocalypse.

Favorite Video Friday – More Camera Tricks

Apologies once again, I was in San Diego on a gig.

And again, apologies, I had this done yesterday and I don’t know if I didn’t click “publish” or what, but only realized today (Saturday) that it hadn’t posted.

This week: More Crazy-Cool Camera Tricks

The BPA – Seattle (Feat. Emma the Great)

It’s like a rubix cube… sort of… or that thing they did in the opening ceremonies… I don’t know, leave me alone.

The Ting Tings – Be the One

This concept never gets old to me. The way I’m living my life, I wouldn’t be surprised if some day I looked back to see a video wall stalking me.

Cut Chemist – My First Big Break

Filmed with a 360 degree camera. I can’t even begin to imagine how that works.

Favorite Video Friday – The Mini-Movie Music Video

This week: Mini-Movies

MC 900FT Jesus – If I Only Had a Brain (language warning)

Another classic from the great Spike Jonze.

U.N.K.L.E. feat. Thom Yorke – Rabbit in Your Headlights

This one’s more of a short film than a music video. Brutal.

Muse – Knights of Cydonia

Man I love Westerns, especially Space Westerns.

This Week in Movies – 10/20/08

In Theaters:

  • High School Musical 3: Senior Year – Will somebody PLEASE think of the children?!!!
  • Pride and Glory – Ed Norton and Colin Farrell in a cop thriller. I like Ed Norton, but I’m skeptical of this one.
  • Saw V – Just in time for Halloween, gratuitous violence.
  • Changeling – Angelina Jolie’s kid goes missing, the cops find him, but she says it’s not him. Clint Eastwood’s one of my favorite directors and he uses my favorite living Cinematographer, Tom Stern, so you know I’m gonna watch this one.
  • Synechdoche, New York – The directing debut of my favorite screenwriter, Charlie Kaufman, starring one of my favorite actors, Philip Seymour Hoffman. I may hitchhike to New York just to stand in line for this one.

On Video:

  • The Incredible Hulk – Ed Norton plays the Hulk this time as Marvel tries to make up for the last Hulk movie. This is a remake, not a sequel, and it’s supposed to be better than the last. I kind of liked the Ang Lee Hulk though, so you know I’m going to watch this one.
  • The Strangers – Liv Tyler lives in a haunted house. Good for her.
